Every summer between mid-June and early September, Lac Justone Outfitter offers self-guided fishing expeditions of five days to its Facolli Fall, Haste Lake and Trophy Lake fishing camps. We pride ourselves in offering you the opportunity to catch beautiful large brook trout, lake trout, northern pike and landlocked Atlantic salmon in lightly fished, true wilderness waters.
We strongly encourage fly fishing only in fast water sections and catch-and-release of all but a few fish for special meals. Fly fishing is the most productive, sporting and exhilarating way to connect with brook trout and salmon. Your co-operation will help ensure that this special trout and salmon fishery remains at an outstanding high level for years to come!
Our fishing camps are located on tributaries to the world-renowned Caniapiscau River which delivers some of the best fishing experiences in North America.
Our base of operations is the town of Fermont in Northern Quebec which is accessible by road via highway 389. The town is also reachable via commercial flights to the airport of Wabush (YWK) located 20 miles/33 kms away (Google Map). We recommend a flex fare in case of a weather delay on the return floatplane trip.
Arrange overnight accommodation for your group in Fermont the day before your flight to camp, and upon your return if required. It’s also your opportunity to stock up at the local supermarket before departure. The next day (and on your return day), you will be flown by floatplane between Fermont and your fishing camp.
Facilities and Equipment
Each site welcomes groups of four (four or six at Facolli) with all the necessary amenities and equipment. This includes: propane stove with 4 burners and oven, fridge with freezer, lights, running water, propane water heater, hot shower, bunk beds, wood stove, barbecue, toilet, generator to recharge your small electrical devices and communication in case of emergency. An information session will be held on site to familiarize you with the facilities. At Facolli Fall, a site maintenance person can answer all your questions during your stay.
Fishing trips are made using wide 12ft, 14ft and 16ft aluminum boats equipped with 9.9hp, 15hp and 20hp outboard motors. All equipment is in excellent condition, buoyancy vests are provided as well as gasoline and mixing oil. In addition, spare motors and parts are stored at each camp. Topographic maps of the territory will be provided upon your arrival.
This type of angling adventure is NOT for everyone. You will stay in a cabin with all of the comforts of home and will have reliable outboard motor boats at your disposal, but it is self-guided. We provide highly detailed maps that show the most productive areas, but we strongly recommend that you bring either a hand-held or marine GPS unit for navigation. These are treacherous and complex waters; large wide expanses interspersed with fast flowing and narrow rapids. It is impossible to set out channel markers on every piece of navigable water, so every boat must be operated by an experienced driver, with a designated ‘rock spotter’ positioned in the bow for safety and hazard avoidance.
The cost of a five-day package is $1,595 per person, plus all applicable sales taxes. Prices are subject to change without prior notice. Your stay can be extended upon payment of a fee per additional day. Note that a deposit is required to secure your group’s reservation.
